Our core diplomatic mandate focuses on expanding cross-border opportunities in trade, investment, culture, and technical cooperation, while offering robust consular services to support our expatriate communities.

Concurrently accredited to the Republic of Djibouti and the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Embassy leverages its strategic presence to advance South-South cooperation, establish robust maritime and air connectivity, and drive collaborative solutions to shared global challenges like climate resilience.

Our Role in Ethiopia

Diplomatic ties established in 1972 form the anchor of our presence in East Africa, evolving rapidly since the opening of our resident Embassy in Addis Ababa in 2017.

Sri Lankan apparel conglomerates are major investors in Ethiopia's industrial zones like the Hawassa Industrial Park, serving as a core foundation for technology and skills transfer.

Active advancement of bilateral instruments, including draft agreements on Double Taxation Avoidance and Investment Protection, designed to provide predictable architecture for cross-border businesses.

Developing new avenues of partnership spanning gems and jewelry, mineral development, renewable energy, and traditional medicine.

Our Role in Djibouti

Formal relations established in September 2015 focus on bridging two of the world's most critical oceanic trade hubs.

Leveraging Sri Lanka's position as the gateway to South Asia alongside Djibouti’s critical standing in the Horn of Africa to explore logistics, shipping, and port-related commercial avenues.

Expanding targeted market access for Sri Lankan exports, with focus areas including tea, agricultural products, and specialized light industrial goods.
